The TEFL in China training program is organized by the Information Research Center, of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA). The TEFL in China certification is authorized by the department of Cultural and Educational Experts, of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), and is officially recognized throughout China.
In order to address fluctuations in supply and demand for foreign teachers in China, foreign expert status is limited to those who have two years teaching experience. The department of Cultural and Educational Experts, of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) permits foreigners to teach in China, with foreign expert status, if they have taken the TEFL in China training, have obtained their certificate, and have their records on the evaluation system for foreign language experts, which is maintained by the Information Research Center, SAFEA. Of course, every applicant who would like to apply for a foreign expert certificate must have a bachelor's degree or beyond.
The TEFL training is an intensive program. The course complies with international standards. The training is designed for those who are motivated to teach English in China. The purpose of the training class is to help foreign teachers:

·√ Adjust their teaching style according to the learning habits of Chinese students
Upon successful completion of this training and the examination, the TEFL in China Certificate will be awarded. All trainers possess degrees in education and substantial teaching experience in China. They do not limit the training to TEFL theory. Rather, they share the practical experience and offer a realistic preview of the work EFL teachers do in China.
The training includes two sections: in-class training and on-line evaluation.
The training classes are classified into two parts:
·● TEFL basic: reference book "Teaching English in China", about 40 class hours, trainers are native English experts;
·● Chinese laws and regulations (Chinese in the classroom is optional upon requirements): about 2-4 class hours, trainers are Chinese experts.
The TEFL examination session is 90 minutes, normally arranged at the noon or afternoon at the final day. Appendix 1 shows an example plan for the 7-day TEFL training.

Teaching English in China

Qualified attendees are those who are holding foreign passports and are planning to teach English in China. The candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or above.
Each trainee's performance in the session is assessed according to group projects, in which participants develop lesson plans based on the approaches and methods discussed in class and then present the lesson to the class, micro-teaching of a mini-lesson by each participant, and the final examination. The maximum score in any session is 100%. Teaching practice accounts for 40%. The final examination accounts for 60%. Candidates who obtain a total score of 60% or higher will pass the TEFL in China certification.
Candidates who attend the TEFL in China training will be awarded a TEFL in China Certificate issued by the Information Research Center, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA). The Certificate is officially recognized as a qualification for teaching English throughout China, and it provides an excellent credential for entering the TEFL profession. The high standard of the Certificate training is also be appreciated by individual schools and colleges throughout the world.
